When we talk about destiny, we talk about what it is we are designed to become. What God expects of us to become. That's why Jeremiah 1 vs 5 says ‘before I formed you in the belle, I knew you and before you came out of the womb, I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations’. The amplified version of that verse says,‘before I formed you in the womb, I knew and I have thought of you as my chosen instruments’.
So for every one of us while we were in our mother’s womb, the Lord had written a plan concerning our lives already. He had determined what it was that we were going to become.
Some years ago there was a lady in one of our parishes, a medical doctor and she was trusting God for the fruit of the womb. She came to our church at that time and we prayed with her. And they lived at Ojuelegba and Ojuelegba means the eye of the wizard. They relocated from there and her husband’s name was also Ogun something, they changed their name to Olu something. A times those names presented a contact point for the devil. And so they changed their name and she still did not take in and she decided she was not going to practice medicine again, and said she was going to go into baking. And then one time I travelled to UK and she came to meet me at a filling station there. I couldn't recognize her because she was looking different. But sometime along the line, her husband had turned 40 (forty) and as we went to pray for him; the Lord dropped a word in my spirit that 40 (forty) is a significant number. Jesus prayed and fasted for forty days and nights for His ministry. To cut the long story short, God intervened and she took in after about 8 years of waiting. She later called me and was crying that she's having a threatened abortion, right there my mind went to Jeremiah 1 vs 5 and I said to her don't worry; those children in your womb are special because God has already declared what they are going to be. We prayed and God answered and today the twin boys are 7 years old.
So brethren, right from our mother’s womb God has declared and that's what the word of God says. So whatever you are going through now, there is a Master plan for your life and that plan will be established in the name of Jesus. The bible says before you were formed, God knew you and before you came forth, He sanctified and ordained you a prophet to the nations’. In the book of Jeremiah we understand that Jeremiah walked in his purpose and calling. So what has God ordained you to be? Some has been ordained as a pastor, some as an evangelist, some as worshippers, some as men of repute and integrity.
There is a purpose and calling that God has determined for our lives and it is my prayer that we all find that purpose in Jesus’ name. There are different ways we can define what God destined us to become. At times we are living with burden about certain things. I look at someone like Moses. Moses was comfortable in Egypt. When the burden came what happened? He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew fellow and because there was a burden, that burden triggered him to intervene but he later ran away. That act prompted chain of events which ultimately led to the liberation and deliverance for the children of Israel. Often times a burden exist in our heart, at other times, it’s a gifting that we don't even recognize and those are pointers to our destiny.
We quote the Bible passage that says if I perish, I perish. But it is credited to someone who says I understand what my destiny is. And I see that the only two books that are written after women are Ruth and Esther, why because they stood and walked in the place of their destiny. I pray that God would bring each and every one of us there in the name of Jesus Christ.
