Revelation 22:11-12  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

THE GOOD NEWS

1 John 5:11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. John 3:18-19 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting  life.

HOW TO HAVE FAVOUR WITH GOD AND MAN

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile Himself with the portion of the Kings meat, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested the prince of eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God has brought Daniel favour ... “ (Daniel: 8,9a)

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man (Luke 2:52)

In these last days when circumstances around us are rapidly changing towards the negative in fulfilment of "perilous times shall come" written in 2 Tim. 3:1, all we need is favour - favour with God and man - for us to walk with our heads up. Apart from Jesus, Daniel- a man of like passions like ourselves found favour with God and with Man. God gave him revelations, not only for His day but far into the future as well. Daniel predicted the fall of Roman Empire and the birth of Alexander the Great, and when anti-Christ would come. He even predicted when Jesus would be born, right down to the very day. In a foreign land where he was taken captive, King Belshazzar made him the Third ruler in his kingdom (Dan. 5:29). Even when Daniel was thrown into the den of lions, God gave him favour.

No matter the prevailing circumstances around you now, God can still give you favour. Don't loose hope. We shall be looking at the life of Daniel and see how we can obtain this favour.

DANIEL TAKEN CAPTIVE

Daniel was 17 years old when he was taken captive. He was in Jerusalem when one day, Nebuchadnezzar besieged the city and hauled off hundreds of thousands of Jews as slave into Babylon.

Daniel woke up a few days later tired, exhausted, dirty, confused and separated from his family, his friends and his beloved city of Jerusalem. Then something wonderful started happening in his life. The wisdom that resulted caused this man, over a 700years period of time to become the most prominent and powerful world leader of that day.

He served under four world leaders and on two occasions rejected their orders to their faces and lived to tell about it. All because he had proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself. He wanted favour with God; God gave him just that, and favour with man at the same time.

Daniel was not the only captive brought from Jerusalem. There were hundreds of thousands, but we see Daniel rising above them all like a bright star. The spotlight of prophecy from heaven shone down on this man because he purposed in his heart not to defile himself.

He would not eat the King's Meat. Why? Ye knew that the Word of God said in Leviticus 3: 17, 7:26 that it was defiled meat. It was offered to idols. Daniel made up his mind that he would not enter into covenant with idol worshippers.

The difference in men who succeed and fail is their ability to handle pressure. Decision always translates into energy. We retain our integrity in the face of temptation and therefore sin not against God.

BLESSED AND EXALTED

If you honour the Word of God, God in return will honour you (1 Sam 2:30) God blessed Daniel physically, mentally, spiritually, and he could stand all of his enemies.

Daniel means: “God is judge” Daniel believed that, in a word of injustice, if you stand for God, you will experience rejection. Some people will not like you, but ultimately you will win. God is judge and He is just. You will always live to be the level of your faith. Courage makes it possible to be a hero. We need courage to face reality in life. So Daniel would not accept his heathen name. When you submit yourself to the lordship of an ungodly world you become like it. Daniel was in a power struggle between a world that was trying to press him into its mold and a God who asked. "Do you want favour with me, or with Baal?" Daniel chose favour with God.

LEARN TO STAND ALONE

A lot of people do not understand the importance of winds of adversity. When persecution comes, when frustration comes, when difficulties come, we do not known how to use adversity for advantage. Therefore, many times, we are beaten by the winds of adversity.

"If you faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small" (proverb 24: 10) everyone has stress in their lives. The Bible asks us what our response will be to diversity. The Word "Faint" means "TO BE WEAK OR SLOTHFUL" So if you are weak or slothful in a time of stress, your strength is small God is telling us that He wants to give us His strength; Daniel knew his God was strong. What is your response to adversity.? God says we should be strong and not slothful. Therefore our response to adversity should be:-

I. DO NOT PANIC: The cares of the world are our adversities. Every man has plans, goals, projects, friends, but he can be wrecked by the cares of the world. When this happen, God is waiting to help you.

2. CONQUER PRIDE: When you are up against adversity, realize that it is an opportunity to humble yourself. God says he resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. When you humble yourself you are conquering pride.

3. RE-EXAMINE YOUR SOURCE: There may be idols in your life that can cause you to panic. These weaknesses will destroy you in a time of testing.

4. FOCUS ON UNSEEN SUPERNATURAL POWERS: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood .... (Ephesians 6: 12)

5. RECOGNISE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURIFY YOUR FAITH

6. INCREASE YOUR HATRED OF EVIL AND SATAN (Proverbs 8: I 3)

7. TEST YOUR WORKS: The Bible says if we judge ourselves, we will not be judged. (1 CORINT.11:31)

8. FIND OUT WHO YOUR TRUE FRIENDS ARE, THOSE WHO WILL LOVE YOU AND STAND WITH YOU.

THE WINDS OF ADVERSITY

The Bible says "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles (Isaiah 40:31)

Five things you should know about eagles and adversity:

I. TURBULENT WINDS CAUSE THE EAGLE TO FLY HIGHER

Successful people are not people who do not have pressure; some of the greatest individuals alive are those who have learnt to use pressure to their advantage.

2. WHEN THE EAGLE IS IN TURBULENCE, HE HAS A LARGER VIEW. He sees much more because of the winds of adversity. He knows how to utilize them to rise higher.

3. EAGLES LIFT THEMSELVES ABOVE HARASSMENT

When the eagle is low, he is frustrated. Crows, hawks and smaller birds bother him all the time. Have you ever had small birds bugging you? Let the winds of adversity blow, stay in the HoLY GHOST and see yourself rise high!

4. THE WINDS OF VERSITY CREATE LESS EFFORT IN THE EAGLE'S LIFE. BECAUSE HIS WINGS ARE CREATED FOR GLIDING?

He knows that he is born to fight and born to pressure. When you accepted Christ and sang the song "Onward Christian Soldiers: you joined a battle between the forces of darkness and light.

5. The eagle can stay up longer, because he has a thermal draft, Holy Ghost will make you to stay and energies you.

RESPONDING AS DANIEL DID

Three things to remember when you experienced adversity:

1. BELIEVETH WORD OF GOD

2. RESIST TEMPTATION

3. RE-FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION ON CHRIST

Romans 8:5-13, God tells us to understand that we will have adversity. When we do, what should we do? Do what Daniel did Daniel understood how to stand alone. He could not have come out of Jerusalem in chains and rise above the whole nations, become so mighty and powerful, if he did not. As long as Daniel sought the Lord, he prospered. You cannot have favour with God and the devil's crowd at the same time. You will be affected by one or the other. It is impossible to please both groups. If you try, you will become weak.

DANIEL FOUND FAVOUR

How did God give Daniel favour? In seven different ways:

I. Daniel changed the king’s life. The King acknowledged God Almighty.

2. Daniel brought glory to God

3. Daniel became a great man and a respected man

4. Daniel ruled over a nation

5. Daniel received many gifts and favours

6. Daniel ruled over the leadership of that nation (Babylon)

7. Daniel's brethren were exalted. He was given favour on behalf of those whom he loved. He was able to save his dear friends with whom he was brought into captivity.

Most people would have been filled with bitterness, resentment and anger and they would want to revert to warring in the flesh, which the Bible says we are not

Thousands of years of revelation was given to Daniel. What a man! Daniel II :32b says that people who know their God will be strong and do exploits. When Daniel was about 60 years old, he was wise, and knew many secrets (Daniel 12:3). He had been walking in favour with God and man, overcoming and conquering.

DANIEL PURPOSED IN HIS HEART

What brought exaltation to Daniel was as a result of his determination and his commitment to God and His services in steadfastness? Daniel was brought in captivity; circumstances were out of his control in the natural. But he immediately became determined, committed and steadfast. Daniel could have had his heart stolen easily by the foreign women, by the magicians, by a hundred different things. But Daniel guarded his heart. He purposed in his heart. He was determined, committed and steadfast with his heart. He did not let anyone draw him into an emotional experience where he could be robbed and defiled. He wanted favour with God more than favour with man. But he gained favour with man by first seeking favour with God

The fullness of manhood in Christ can only be attained by complete yielding to the headship of Christ. Remember “male and female” is by birth and to be a man is by choice. The World needs men, Who can stand for tile Lord, Whose word is their bond, Who cannot bought with money, Who Possess opinions and a Will; Who are larger than their vocations, Who do not hesitate to take chances;, Who treat things, Who will make no compromise with wrong, Whose ambitions are not Confined to their own selfish desires; Who are true to their friends through good report and evil report, in adversity as Well as in prosperity; Who do not believe that Shrewdness, Cunning and hard headedness are the best qualities for Winning success: Who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth When it  is unpopular; Who can Say ''NO'' with emphasis, although all the rest of the World says "YES" that is type of  man God wants to use mightily. You can rise like Daniel because you have the same God and the same Bible.
